Mary E. Hayes

Mary E. Hayes, 75, beloved mother, grandmother and sister, passed from this life early Wednesday morning, Aug. 29, 2007 in Adena Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. She was born June 3, 1932 in Ross County, the daughter of Ralph L. and Bernice J. (Althouse) Miller. On Sept. 24, 1955 she married Charles W. "Tobe" Hayes, Jr. who preceded her in death Aug. 29, 1998. Surviving are sons, James L. Hayes and Ronald W. Hayes, a grandson, J. Jason Hayes, a great-grandson, J. Tyler Hayes, sisters, Anna Borland and Virginia (Lawrence) Knox and a brother, Thomas (Delores) Miller, all of Chillicothe, a sister-in-law, Pauline Miller, Chillicothe, a brother-in-law, Donald (Dorothy) Hayes, NC, an uncle, Paul (Nancy) Althouse, Chillicothe and a host of nieces and nephews. Her parents and a brother, James E. Miller preceded her in death. Mrs. Hayes was the Head Housekeeper at the L&K Motel, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the First Wesleyan Church, the Liberty Garden Club, Ross Co. Senior Citizens and the Ross Lake Homemakers. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007 in the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home with Revs. B.J. Daily and Marty Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
