Mark A. Stanley, 58, of Circleville, died Friday afternoon, January 30th, 2015, at home surrounded by his family. His love of family and faith was strong, and he will occupy a beloved place in our hearts and minds always.
He was born in Dayton, March 19, 1956, and grew up in Waynesville, the son of the late Harold and Doris Charlton Stanley. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sharon Rinkliff Stanley, and by his sons: Ben (Adrienne Shue), Arden, NC; Nick (Mary-Beth Ewing), Circleville, OH; and Joel (Ashley Hammond), Santa Clara, CA. He was a proud grandpa to five: Katarina, Chip, and Anderson Stanley (Nick & Mary-Beth) and Julianne and Joshua (Ben & Adrienne). Also surviving are his brother Steve (Kim) Stanley, Waynesville; in-laws, Don and Marian Rinkliff , Chillicothe; and his aunt, Barbara Irons , Waynesville.
He was retired as a Contracting Officer for the Department of Defense at Defense Supply Center, DLA in Columbus. He was involved in the award of the two largest contracts on record at DSC, one of them an Army tire program that moved the existing national system to a just-in-time inventory. After retirement, he worked as a contractor and consultant to Aqua-Chem in Knoxville, TN.
Mark loved fly fishing, hunting, and golfing with family and friends. He knew how to do anything at home, surviving many remodeling and landscape projects in numerous houses for himself, his family, and friends. He was an avid sports fan with the OSU Buckeyes at the top of his list followed by the Cincinnati Reds.
Most of all, though, he just loved his family.
Mark’s favorite part of the Bible was Ephesians and, specifically, Chapter 2.
Eph. 2:5 – 9: Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.
An Open House celebration of Mark’s life will be held 11am to 5pm at his home, Saturday, February 7, 2015. Burial will be a private graveside service. We are thankful to Berger Hospice for helping in Mark’s end of life care. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mark’s memory to Columbus Bible Church, 8192 Linden Leaf Circle, Columbus, OH 43235.
