Over the next forty years, Marilyn worked as an RN for the Chillicothe Hospital, the VA Medical Center and Mead Paper, where she was an Industrial Nurse and served as Head Nurse for many years, prior to her retirement. Known as "Fergie" to many of her friends and as "Nanny" to her grandchildren, Marilyn was active throughout her nearly eighty years of making many life-long friends whom she considered family. She was a member of the First Wesleyan Church. Also, she was an active member of Board of Directors of the Mead Credit Union, First Capital Investment Club, the Red Hat Society and the Chillicothe Paints' Booster Club.
