Margaret M. Smith

Margaret M. Smith, 87, of Chillicothe, passed from this life early Friday morning, Dec. 5, 2008 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008 in the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Hartley officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday. Mrs. Smith was born Dec. 29, 1920 in Sophia, WV, the daughter of Andrew and Myrtle (Simmons) Rowles. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Ollie Pelfrey and Paul Smith, sons, Keith Pelfrey and Harlan F. Davis, a sister and 3 brothers. Surviving is a daughter, Patricia A. Westbrook, Chillicothe, daughters-in-law, Joann Pelfrey, Marysville, TN and Gayle Detillion, Chillicothe, grandchildren, Phyllis Uhrig, Lisa Walls, Joyce Baer, Tony Davis, Suzanne Gray, Jeff (Davis) Coleman, Lolitta Pelfrey, Michelle Moore, Keith Brian Pelfrey and Lynn Halberson, 21 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren. She was a graduate of Career Beauty School and was a cosmetologist, operating her own business. Prior to moving to Chillicothe, she had worked as a waitress and as an operator for the Ohio Consolidated Telephone Co. in Portsmouth. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will be missed by her family and friends.
