Margaret “Buba” Salsgiver Goodwin, 88, formerly of Chillicothe, passed from this life on Monday afternoon, July 20, 2015 in the Otterbein Senior Living Center, New Albany, OH. She was born October 25, 1926 in Ebensburg, PA, the daughter of the late Joseph C. and Margaret (Jones) Salsgiver and step-father, Clarence Shaw. On July 26, 1946 she married Eugene “Benny” Goodwin who preceded her in death April 9, 1986.
Surviving is a son, Michael Eugene (Mary) Goodwin, Tempe, AZ; a daughter, Cindy Goodwin, New Albany, OH; grandchildren, Jamie (Jonathan) White, CA, Alicia (Justin) Johnson, Chandler, AZ, Sarah (Ryan) Baughman and Benjamin Goodwin, both of Tempe, AZ and Karen Trempe, New Albany, OH; great-grandchildren, Annie and Sam Trempe, New Albany, OH, Auden White, CA and Caleb Johnson, AZ; a half-sister, Sally Scotch, Lincoln, CA and Mary K Torbitt, O’Fallon, MO.
She was preceded in death by her precious grandson, Bradley Allen Francis, brother, Joseph Salsgiver and sister, Betty Swisher.
Margaret was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. She was a 1944 graduate of CHS. She worked for 14 years for Dr. Carl Henderson and was a property manager for Zane Square and North River Place Apartments, retiring in 1989. Following her husband’s death she moved to Lancaster, OH. She was an active volunteer for the area American Legion Auxiliary, serving as President from 1990 to 1992.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 24, 2015 in St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Fr. Michael Hartge, Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Margaret’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME from 4:30 to 6:30 pm on Thursday.
