Margaret L. Bowers

Margaret Lucetta Bowers, 87, of Chillicothe, passed from this life early Friday morning, Aug. 21, 2009 at her residence following and extended illness. She was born Dec. 20, 1921 in Point Pleasant, WV, the daughter of Samuel and Mary Olga (Kimberling) Martin. On July 23, 1950 she married Bernard L. Bowers, who survives. Together they shared 59 years of happiness. Also surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lee and Daniel Cooper, Circleville, a son, Douglas Brent Bowers, NJ, grandchildren, Tara Leigh Cooper, Brianne Elizabeth Bowers and Brent Douglas Bowers and sisters-in-law, Rachel Martin and Lea Martin, both of Chillicothe. Her parents and brothers, Edgar, Harley, Wayne and Donald Martin preceded her in death. Mrs. Bowers was a former employee of Mead Paper and had been a secretary in the Guidance Office at Chillicothe High School, retiring in 1985. She was an 85 year member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she had served as a Sunday School Teacher. Her memberships included the Gideon's International Ladies Auxiliary and OES Chapter 419, Chillicothe. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009 in the Tabernacle Baptist Church with Rev. Steven Schmidt officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Tabernacle Baptist Church from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday. The Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home is serving the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International, P. O. Box 1814, Chillicothe, OH 45601 or to the Tabernacle Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
