Louretta Houser

Louretta Houser, 88, of Chillicothe, passed on to her Heavenly home on Monday, April 27, 2026 at her residence. She was born on July 4, 1937, in Chillicothe, OH, a daughter of Gus and Rosa Mae Riley. On September 7, 1956 she married Howard “Fuzz” Houser, who preceded her in death on May 9, 2024.

Surviving are a son, Jeff (Stacee) Houser, Waverly, OH; daughters, Mendy Houser, Chillicothe, OH; and Cindy (Marty) Unrue, Ashville, OH; grandchildren, Stephanie Hissey, Riley Houser (Brent Kohn), and Reeanna (Dustin) Hougland; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Terry Houser, a brother, and 3 sisters.

Louretta graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1955 and was a retired employee of Rubbermaid. She was a faithful member of Chillicothe First Church of God. For many years, she was active in the Beta Sigma Phi sorority and Shawnee Lanes bowling league on Wednesday nights.

She loved her family and never missed out on capturing memories with her Nikon camera during vacations, tractor pulls, and dirt tract events. Dirt track racing was a fun family hobby for 36 years, and Louretta was always there to cheer on her sons. She enjoyed watching NASCAR and NHRA drag racing every Sunday, rarely missing a race.

The Houser family wishes to thank Brenda Saunders who spent almost every day caring for Louretta over the last year. They would also like to thank Dr. Seidensticker and Adena Hospice for their exceptional care and support.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2026 at Chillicothe First Church of God with Rev. Matthew Roe, officiating. Immediately following the service, a meal will be provided in the church’s Life Center where everyone is invited to celebrate Louretta’s life. Calling hours will not be observed. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chillicothe First Church of God Building Fund, 780 E. Water St., Chillicothe, OH 45601 or to Adena Hospice.
