Lois M. Homans

Lois Mae (Wallace) Homans, 90, formerly of Chillicothe, passed from this life on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010 in Bedford, TX where she had lived for the last decade. She was born in Billings, OK on November 11, 1920 to Henry and Clara (Layman) Wallace. Surviving are her children, Brian Homans and wife, Laurie Morse, Bruce and wife, Gloria Homans; grandchildren, Kelly Homans, Hunter Homans and Sandy Surian; great-grandchildren, Alex, Allison, Aubrey, Aidan and Ashlyn Surian; a brother, Ivan Wallace of Arlington, TX and many nieces and nephews. Her husband of 50 years, Willard, and brothers, Harold, Gordon and Leonard Wallace preceded her in death. Lois grew up in Garber, Oklahoma where she still has family. As a young woman during World War II she moved to Washington DC where she worked for the government as an administrative assistant. When the war ended, she married Willard Homans and moved to his hometown of Chillicothe where she lived her entire married life. In Chillicothe, she pursued her passion for painting and raised her family. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, past president of the Chillicothe Century Club and was a long-time member of the Chillicothe Art League. She was employed by Mead Paper and Ohio University. Lois was an accomplished watercolor artist, loving mother and grandmother and a good friend to many. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010 in Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Kurt King officiating. A reception will immediately follow the service in the church Social Hall. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery at 3:00 pm. Calling hours will not be observed. The FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME is serving the family. Memorial contributions may be made in Lois' memory to Trinity United Methodist Church.
