Linda L. (Smith) Clay, 81, of Chillicothe, passed from this life on Sunday June 21, 2026 at her residence. She was born May 16, 1945 in Chillicothe, the daughter of Zella E. “Betty” (Titus) and Robert Bartlett. On April 6, 1986 she married John B. Clay who preceded her in death on October 19, 2017.
Surviving is her daughter, Shelley Osborne, Chillicothe; fiancé, Kenny Barnes, Chillicothe; step-daughters, Meshelle (Dave) Jett, and Heather (Robin) Clay, step-son, Toby Clay, grandchildren, Wesley (Amanda) Finley, and Jordan (Haley) Osborne, step-grandchildren, Aaron Dean, Kelsey Dean, Kylie Jett, Davey (Kayla) Jett, Drayden (Haley) Jett, Kaitlyn (Ethan) Howard, and Noah Clay, great-grandchildren, Olivia Finley, Macie Osborne, Frankie-Lynn Detty and Gabriel Detty, sisters, Georgia Hall, Sandra (James) Woods, Judith (Robert) Suddeth, Carol LaGore, Bobbie Jo (Bernie) Richardson, and Sara (Kevin) Holloway, and a brother, Charles “Bill” Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Betty Sue Peterson, sister-in-law, Jody Smith, and a brother-in-law, Jerry Hall.
Linda was a1963 graduate of Chillicothe High School. Growing up, she and her brother Bill would compete and win dance competitions. Linda had retired from Greenfield Printing, where she worked in the mail department. She was a member of the American Legion Post 62, VFW, and AMVETS. Linda loved The Ohio State Buckeyes and going to the casino. Most of all she loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and will be greatly missed.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday June 26, 2026 in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME with her brother-in law, Robert Suddeth, officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday June 25, 2026 at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and one hour prior to the funeral on Friday. The family would like everyone to wear your favorite OSU gear in honor of Linda. Following the committal service on Friday there will be a meal provided at the Richmond Dale Church of God.
