Lester Atwood, Jr.

Lester Atwood, Jr., 69, of Chillicothe, passed from this life on Monday afternoon, July 27, 2014 in Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus following an extended illness.  He was born May 13, 1945 in Ross County, the son of Lester Atwood, Sr. and Ida Mae (Gragg) Atwood.

Surviving is his mother, Ida Mae Schobeloch; his former spouse, Glenda Atwood; sons, Steven Atwood and Daniel Atwood (Heather Wilmoth), all of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Cody and Dylan Atwood and Abby Maxwell; step-grandchildren, Randy and Isaiah Allagree; and a sister, Vicki Goff, Des Moines, IA.  His father and brothers, David and Steven Atwood preceded him in death.

Mr. Atwood was a retried construction worker.  He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving during the Vietnam War and was a member of American Legion Post 62.

Graveside funeral services with military honors by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard will be held at 1:30 pm Thursday, July 31, 2014 in Twin Township Cemetery.  Calling hours will not be observed.  The FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME is serving the family.
