Lenore Houck Lawson

Lenore Houck Lawson, 90, of Bristol Village in Waverly, Ohio passed away on July 28, 2015 in Adena Hospital, Chillicothe, Ohio following a brief illness.

She was born on March 4, 1925 in Jackson, Ohio to Charles N. and Ruby Welker Houck. After living in Gallipolis and Ironton, Ohio, she moved to Chillicothe where she graduated in 1943 from Chillicothe High School.

During WW II she was trained as a nurse in the Cadet Nurse Program at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, graduating in 1947. She returned to Chillicothe, where she married Robert (Bob) Lawson on July 2, 1950 at Walnut Street United Methodist Church.

Lenore's service as a Registered Nurse included being a surgical nurse for Dr. Holmes, Nurse Supervisor at the Chillicothe Hospital, and School Nurse for the Chillicothe City Schools. She was also a Red Cross Nurse for over 50 years, serving in many capacities including disaster services in Ohio, West Virginia, and Florida.

After retiring in 1985 from the Chillicothe City Schools, she and Bob lived in Ellenton, Florida until his death in January of 2011. At that time she returned to Chillicothe.

She was a member of the Ellenton United Methodist Church and Trinity United Methodist Church, Chillicothe. She enjoyed singing and was active in the church choirs.

Surviving are children Joseph Lawson (Deborah) of Daniel Island, S.C. and Kay Davis (Ed) of Chillicothe, Ohio. She is also survived by grandchildren Brandon Lawson (Melissa) of Chillicothe, Laura Beth Clyne (Tim) of Kingston, Ohio and Clinton Davis, currently residing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Great-grandchildren are William Lawson, Colton Clyne, and Charley Clyne. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews as well as brother-in-law Robert Wagner, of South Carolina, sister-in-law, Jo Ann Duhl Rose of Marion, Ohio and Nancy Munn of Chillicothe.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers and their wives Charles Richard Houck (Geraldine Cook) and William E. Houck (Betty Davis) and a sister-in-law and her husband, Ruth Lawson Stanhope (Glen R.), as well as brothers-in-law James Munn and Perry Duhl.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at Grandview Cemetery, Chillicothe, Ohio. The FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME is honored to be serving the family.
