Leah W. Vangundy

Leah W. Van Gundy, 92, of Chillicothe, passed from this life early Sunday morning, Sept. 14, 2008 in Traditions Of Chillicothe following a brief illness. Private funeral services will be held at the family's discretion. At Leah's request, calling hours will not be observed. A graveside service will be held for family and friends in Greenlawn Cemetery at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008. The Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home is serving the family. Leah was born on Sept. 25, 1915 in Petersburg, IN, the daughter of Joseph W. and Beulah V. (Laub) Schreiber. At the age of 14, she moved to Chillicothe with her family. She was an Honor Student and a graduate of Chillicothe High School and was employed at the Mead Corporation. On Jan. 23, 1936 she married Kenneth E. Van Gundy who preceded her in death June 28, 1999. Surviving is her son, James W. Van Gundy and his companion, Kitty Hess, of Chillicothe. Her parents and a sister, Lucille Schreiber preceded her in death.
