Larry James Lump

Larry James Lump, 71, of Chillicothe, passed from this life suddenly, 6:58 PM, Friday, May 25, 2012 in the Adena Regional Medical Center.



He was born November 16, 1940, in Alma, OH, the son of the late Elmer R. and the late Garnet  Schumann Lump. July 29, 1961 he married the former Carolyn S. Whaley who survives.



Also surviving are two sons, Larry James (Shannon) Lump II and Michael (Carma) Lump, all of Chillicothe; seven grandchildren Maria (Dan) Dudzinski, Amy (Nick) Barrows, Michael (Ally) Lump II, Larry James Lump III, Amanda Lump, Hanna Lump, and Corey Lump; 3 great grandchildren Raegan, Rylee,and Delanee Dudzinski, and two more expected in 2012; two sisters, Kay Stewart and Kathy (Tony) Smith, and numerous nieces and nephews.



Mr. Lump was a US Navy Veteran, longtime Little League and Pony League Baseball Coach, Girl’s Fast Pitch Softball Coach, Co-founder of the Scioto Valley Youth Flag Football League, Unioto Athletic Booster President for many years, Avid fish fryer for both his church and Unioto Football, Past ChillRossCo Credit Union board member, Member of American Legion Post 62, Chairman of Adena Regional Medical Center Volunteer Advisory Council, Member of Adena Regional Medical Center Health Foundation Board, Member of the Westside Church of the Nazarene, and Former Co-owner of Lightning Print Shop.



He also had a 41 year career with Horizon Chillicothe Telephone Company as the Engineering Manager, where he had the opportunity to participate with the PUCO on the 911 Committee and served as the Ross County 911 Committee Chairman to establish the first electronic 911 system in Ross County. He also served on the PUCO committee to split the 614/740 Area Code.  He also served as a member of the National Services Advisory Committee, helping to set standards and direction for the industry.



Funeral services will be held 10:30 am, Wednesday, May 30, 2012 in the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home, with Reverend Jerry Carpenter officiating.  Burial will follow in St Margarets Cemetery. The Family will receive friends from 5 to 8  PM Tuesday.
