Kermit Maynard

Kermit Maynard, 91, of Chillicothe, formerly of Amherst, NY, passed from this life Saturday evening, Feb. 11, 2012 in Traditions of Chillicothe. He was born Sept. 30, 1920 in Pikeville, KY, the son of James and Vicey (Stanley) Maynard. Surviving is his wife, Pearl (Clevinger) Maynard of Chillicothe; a daughter; 4 sons; a step-daughter; a step-son and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was the last of 8 children. Mr. Maynard was a US Army WW II veteran and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He served at the Normandy Invasion and with Patton's 3rd Army in Europe. Funeral services will be held in Amherst, NY under the direction of the Dietrich Funeral Home at a later date. Calling hours will not be observed. Local arrangements are entrusted to the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home.
