Juanita M. Harkins

Juanita May Harkins, 84, of Chillicothe, passed from this life on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 1, 2009 in Adena Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009 in the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday (today). She was born May 29, 1924 in Ross County, the daughter of Henry Arthur and Etta Viola (Holland) Harkins. Surviving are great nieces, Joetta Cory and Melanie L. (Clint) Shaw, a great nephew, Ronald A. (Linda) Whitaker, all of Chillicothe, many great-great nieces and nephews and a close friend, Tonya Shaw, Chillicothe. Her parents, sisters, Josephine Dawes and Eula Harkins, brothers, John and Donald Harkins and 3 infant brothers and a great nephew, Rodney Whitaker preceded her in death. Juanita had been employed by the Ross TB Sanitarium, Chillicothe Hospital and Adena Health System. As an avid animal lover, she was devoted to her dogs. She will be remembered as a caring and loving person and was the beloved head of her family.
