Jean Ewing Rusk, 90, passed from this life Tuesday evening, Sept. 20, 2011, at her residence. She was born Jan. 26, 1921, in Chillicothe, to the late J. Walter and Clara (Hyson) Ewing. On Sept. 25, 1954, she married Charles F. Rusk, who preceded her in death on Sept. 23, 1992. Surviving are daughters; Christine E. Renison, Mary K. Rusk, and Barbara J. Gilmore; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles A. and Sharon Rusk, all of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Kim (Jon) Palmer, Nick (Kristin) Rusk, Adam, Erin, and Hallie Renison, and Katie Gilmore; a sister Margaret Anne Sollars, Washington C.H.; a sister-in-law, Lillian Fawley, Proctorville, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister-in-law, Jeanne Immell, and brother-in-law, Bill Sollars. Jean was a graduate of Chillicothe High School and Ohio University, where she received her BSC and MA degrees. She served in the U.S. Navy (WAVES) during WWII. Prior to her marriage, she worked in student personnel at Ohio University and Texas Tech University. She was a charter member and past president of the AAUW in Chillicothe, and was a member of St. Peter's Church for more than 30 years. Together with her husband, she co-founded Charley's Flowers, until their retirement in 1983. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Monday Sept. 26, 2011, in St. Peter's Catholic Church, with Fr. William Hahn and Fr. Charles Griffin, celebrants. Burial will follow in St. Margaret's Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, where a Wake Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Hospice of Adena Health for their excellent care during Jean's illness.
