Jean A. Hertler

Jean A. Hertler, 82, of Chillicothe, passed from this life Sunday evening, Nov. 20, 2011 in Adena Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born June 8, 1929 in Columbus, OH, the daughter of Harold T. and Ruth (Converse) Burnham. On Dec. 26, 1952 she married James C. Hertler who survives. Also surviving are daughters, Rev. Carol A. Hertler, Chillicothe and Judith H. and husband, Timothy L. Garnhart, Dixon, IL; sons, Thomas C. Hertler, Columbus, William J. and wife, Lynn Hertler, Chillicothe and Andrew D. Hertler, Washington, DC; 8 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Her parents, a grandchild and a brother preceded her in death. Mrs. Hertler was a 1951 graduate of The Ohio State University. A member of Calvary Lutheran Church, she served as church secretary until her retirement in 1992. She was a member of Eastern Star Chapter 419, having served as the secretary - treasurer of the building association and was a member of the OSU Alumni Association. She was an avid bridge enthusiast. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, Nov. 25, 2011 in the Calvary Lutheran Church with Rev. Janet Hatch officiating. Burial will follow in the Belmont County Memorial Park, St. Clairsville, OH. The family will receive friends at the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME from 3:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, with an Eastern Star memorial service at 7:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Lutheran Church.
