James “Jim” Wade, age 89, passed away on October 23, 2012 in Traditions of Chillicothe following a brief illness.

Jim was born November 8, 1922 in Huntington, West Virginia to the late Clarence R. and Louise Kathryn (Michael) Wade.  He graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1940 and attended Ohio University Chillicothe.  He married his high school sweetheart, Anne C. Phillips on July 19, 1944.  They were married over 51 years until her passing on January 5, 1996.  Jim was a member of the Army Air Corp 515th Parachute Infantry Regiment during his enlistment from March 8, 1943 to December 1945.  He jumped in France and many times in the United States.

After WWII and his discharge from the military, Jim worked for Weaver Jewelers.  In 1948 he began his career as an engineering draftsman with the Ohio Department of Transportation.  Jim was a draftsman with the Engineering Department of the Mead Paper Mill from 1953 until 1975.  He retired as an engineer from the Goodyear Atomic Plant in 1985.

He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons Scioto Lodge No. 6, American Legion Post 62, and Partners in Investment Education (PIE).  He loved politics and was a member of the Ross County Republican Party.

Jim was a longtime member of Salem Church located at the corner of 4th and Mulberry Streets in Chillicothe.  He was in Men’s Brotherhood, was a Sunday School teacher, past President of the church board, and Scout Master of Troop 4 for many years.  He most recently was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Jim gave much to his community.  He was a representative for Salem Church on the Adena Regional Medical Center Board.  He was head of the building committee during the construction of the current hospital and the acquisition of extra property upon which the Adena Cancer Center and PACCAR Medical Education Center are now located.  He was elected to the Union Scioto School Board in 1964 and served on that board for 12 years overseeing the construction of the new high school.  He was a founding member of the Union Scioto Athletic Boosters Club in 1962.  He was a member of the Ross County Board for 5 years from 1987 to 1991.  He drew the building plans for the Scioto Township  No. 2 Fire Station located in North Fork Village.  He volunteered for the Good Samaritan Network and the VA Forest E. Everhart Memorial Golf Course.  He leaves a positive legacy of building for the future not just with mortar and bricks but with organizations that improved his community.

Jim loved his family and visited his children and grandchildren wherever they were, sometimes going overseas.

He is survived by sons, Daniel James (Barbara) Wade of Frankfort and Charles Robert (Teresa) Wade and a son-in-law Fred Krider of Chillicothe; grandchildren Joshua (Marlene) Wade of Carmel IN, Abby (David) Brugno of North Chili NY, Elijah (Erin) Wade of Penfield NY, Candice (Josh) Carver of Chillicothe and Rachel (Josh Johnsen) Wade of Omaha NE;great-grandchildren Alex and Nathan Wade; Jackson and Carson Wade; Lyndsay and Jonah Brugno; Kyle and Dylan Rice and Ian Carver; nephews and nieces Ralph Wheeler, Sally Williams, Linda Clements, David Hoff, Mike Wade, Joy Glatz, and David Hirsch; many great nephews and nieces, and a very special friend Donna Ebert.  Jim was predeceased by his daughter Carol Anne Krider, great-granddaughter Carly Brugno, brother Andrew Wade, sisters Ruby Dawson, Edra Brahler, Wanda Weir, and Kathryn Hoff.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday October 27, 2012 in the Trinity United Methodist Church, with Rev. Kurt King officiating.  Private burial will be held at the discretion of the family.  Calling hours will not be observed.  The FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME is serving the family.  The family requests memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 24 S.
