James J. Riley

James J. Riley, 81, of Chillicothe, passed from this life early Friday morning, Aug. 8, 2008 in the Adena Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born Nov. 28, 1926 in Waverly, OH, the son of James V. and Emma D. (Wetzel) Riley. On Sept. 15, 1946 he married Lyda Kathryn Park. Surviving is his wife, Kathryn, sons, James M. and wife, Charlotte Riley, Bloomingburg, OH and Daniel P. Riley, Chillicothe, daughters, Ellen M. and husband, Lonnie Wilhelm, Chillicothe, Alice L. Miner, Lewisburg, TN, Nina M. and husband, Kenneth Miller, Columbus and Esther L. Davies, Chillicothe, 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, a brother-in-law, George Sparks and a niece, Becky Hitchens, both of Chillicothe and a host of friends and his church family. His parent and a sister, Ellen Sparks preceded him in death. Mr. Riley was an employee of Chilpaco, retiring in 1997. He was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene. A veteran of WW II, he served in the U.S. Navy and was a member Local 731, UPIU, the WW II LST Association and the Ross County Senior Citizens. "May the work I've done speak for me". Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm Monday, Aug. 11, 2008 in the First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Jason Everidge officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens with military honors by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the First Church of the Nazarene from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene. The Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home is serving the family.
