Jacob Southward

Jacob Southward, 95, formerly of New Holland (Atlanta community) passed from this life Thursday morning, Mar. 20, 2008 in Rockbridge, OH at the home of his daughter. He was born Feb. 12, 1913 in Ross County, the son of Mack and Rosa (Fouty) Southward. On Nov. 30, 1945 he married Kathleen V. Cook who preceded him in death Nov. 20, 1972. Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Viola and Kevin Jones, Rockbridge, OH, grandchildren, Patrick W. Redding, Melisa M. Redding and Floyd E. Redding, Jr., 2 step-grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 2 step-great grandchildren and a step-great great grandchild. His parents, 3 brothers and 5 sisters preceded him in death. Mr. Southward was a retired farmer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in WW II and had been a member of the Clarksburg United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, Mar. 25, 2008 in the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Twin Township Cemetery with military rites by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Tuesday.
