Jack F. Burns, 76, of Chillicothe, passed from this life on Thursday, February 29, 2024 in the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, following an extended illness. He was born on August 1, 1947 in Chillicothe to the late Clyde and Ruth (Sampson) Burns. On April 27, 1974 he married Linda Bryan, who survives.
Also surviving is his son Jimmy Burns, Chillicothe; step-daughter, Melissa (Danny) Kyle, Chillicothe; step-son, Dr. Jeff (Diane) Lee, Granville; grandchildren, Casey Burns and Levi Burns, step-grandchildren, Joey (Autumn) Good, Forrest Lee, and Annika Lee, sisters, Denise (Harold) Ramsey, and Bonnie Burns, both of Chillicothe; sister-in-law, Thelma Burns, and his long-time friend, Dave Perkins. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Betty Conley, Marge Wills, Jeanette Oates, Bill Burns, and Bob Burns.
Jack was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He worked for the Horizon Chillicothe Telephone Company for 38 years, retiring in 2003. Jack was a private pilot, enjoyed electronics, and building computers, and was a “Jack” of all trades.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday March 6, 2024 in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Wes Souders, officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of service on Wednesday.
