Howard C. Baxter

Howard Carl Baxter, 70 of Adelphi, passed suddenly from this life, 11:31 PM, Thursday, November 12, 2009 in the Adena Regional Medical Center. He was born in Vinton County, late George N. and the late Nettie Spencer Baxter. On October 5, 1995 he married Rosemary Danner who survives. Also surviving are one daughter Cindy (Fred) Mavis, Londonderry; three sons, Jeff Baxter, Ky, Keith (Sheila) Baxter, Chillicothe and Greg (Laura) Baxter, Londonderry; two step-sons Robert Prichard, Newark and Todd Prichard, Ky; 12 grandchildren, Dustin Prichard, Haley Prichard, Hunter Prichard, Heath Prichard, Tony Carmona, Chris Mavis, Brandon Mavis, Nick Mavis, Maddox Baxter, Riley Baxter, Jeremy Forcum and Marlana Long; 6 great grandchildren Austin, Evan, Corbin, Carson, Colby, and Cowen; and one sister Edith Mamie Ingham, Chillicothe, 5 brothers Floyd Baxter, George F. Baxter, Albert Baxter, Gilbert Baxter and Donald Baxter, and 5 sisters Beatrice Gibbs, Bessie Borland, Ruth Hill, Eunice Walters and an infant sister Diane preceded him in death. Mr. Baxter retired in 1996 from Chilpaco where he had been a foreman. He is a member of the Church Triumphant, he coached Scioto Valley Little League Baseball at the Mary Lou Patton Park for many years, was a member of the Ross County Golf League, a former member of the Local #733 and former board member of the Chilpaco Credit Union, and he has sung with the "Christianaires and Christian Sensation" vocal groups. Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM, Wednesday, November 18, 2009 in the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home, with Pastor Aaron Hines officiating. Burial will follow in Londonderry Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday.
