Helen I. Downs

Helen I. Downs, 86, of Chillicothe, passed from this life 12:20 pm, Saturday, December 30, 2006, in the Greenfield Area Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born in Ross County, the daughter of the late Thomas and the late Rhoda Davis Ward. In 1939 she married James F. Downs, who preceded her in death in 1989. Surviving are two sons James F Downs Jr., Londonderry and Roger A. and Sue Downs, Chillicothe; four grand children Sherri ( Mark ) Hathaway, Kim (Craig) Reichert, Cindy (Rusty) Elliott, and Kelly Downs; two step grand children; 7 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; one sister Ruth ( Edward) Kellough, Chillicothe; and three brothers Floyd (Marjorie) Ward and Lloyd (Maggie) Ward, all of Chillicothe and Charles R ( Iris) Ward, Bournville. 2 brothers and one sister preceded her in death. Mrs. Downs was a press operator for Wearever, and the owner-operator of the Sterling Diner in Mt. Sterling, retiring in 1977, and she attended Brookside Church of Christ in Christian Union. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM, Thursday January 4, 2007 in the Fawcett Oliver Glass & Palmer Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Norman officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 8 PM Wednesday.
