Helen A. Clifton

Helen A. Clifton, 88, of Chillicothe, passed from this life Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 19, 2009 in Traditions of Chillicothe following an extended illness. She was born Oct. 16, 1920 in Columbus, OH, the daughter of Orie C. and Clara (Leinhardt) Blakely. On Sept. 3, 1941 she married Dr. Charles A. Clifton, Jr. who preceded her in death May 24, 1986. Surviving is a daughter, Lisa (Kevin) Blevins, Chillicothe, sons, Charles A. (Karen) Clifton, III and Paul R. (Marilyn) Clifton, all of Circleville and Daniel W. (Tammy) Clifton, Waverly, grandchildren, Heather M. Blevins, Charles A. Clifton, IV, David S. Clifton, Robert J. Clifton, Sean A. Clifton, Ryan C. Clifton, Noah E. Clifton, Gabriel R. Clifton, Douglas Eakin and Matthew Eakin, 4 great grandchildren, a sister, Joann (William) Thompson, Lakeland, FL and a brother, Robert (Mary Jane) Blakely, Sun City, FL. Her parents, a daughter, Ruth Eakin Adkins and a brother, Paul Blakely preceded her in death. Mrs. Clifton was a life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church and was active in the Chancel Choir. She was an avid traveler and enjoyed gardening and painting. A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 pm Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009 in the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. James Grove officiating. At her request, following cremation, private arrangements will be at the discretion of the family. Calling hours will not be observed. The Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home is serving the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 3380 Tremont Rd., Columbus, Ohio 43221.
