Harold Grant Dresbach, DVM, of Chillicothe, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011. He was born Jan. 1, 1927 near Hallsville to the late Earl Camp and Ilda S. (Kellenberger) Dresbach. "Doc" left Centralia High School to further his studies at Columbus North High School for his senior year. He left Columbus North to enlist in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He received training as a submarine radio operator. On completion of his service he was honorably discharged. He was a 1953 graduate of the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine and practiced his entire career in Ross County and southern Ohio, specializing in large animal medicine. He was a member of Scioto Lodge #6, F&AM and was Past Exalted Ruler of the Chillicothe Elks Lodge. "Doc" was a former member of the Ross County Board of Health, the Ross County Veterinary Medical Association, the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association. He was a member of the First Wesleyan Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, June D. (Wainscott) Dresbach, his brothers and their wives, Col. Earl C. (Jane) Dresbach, Jr., D. Philip (Marilyn Jo) Dresbach, and a sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie E. and Richard Bowers. Surviving are his daughters, Suzanne L. (Thomas J.) Kunsitis, Jennifer C. (John Garnon) Dresbach and Elizabeth A. "Betsy" (Jeff) DeLong, six grandchildren, six great- grandchildren, and eight nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his second wife, Freda D. (Hahn) Dresbach, her sons, Terry (Lynn) Russell, Randy Russell and Danny (Nancy) Russell, grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He will be missed by his faithful dog, Sissy and all who knew him. "Doc" always loved to laugh and tell a good joke. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, Oct. 24, 2011 in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Fred Fox officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens with military rites by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday.
