Harmon Jobe, 93, of Chillicothe, passed from this life Friday evening, Sept. 5, 2008 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born Mar. 1, 1915 in Lawrence County, KY, the son of Lindsay and Carrie (Jordan) Jobe. On Mar. 1, 1951 he married Bonnie Spetnagel who survives. Also surviving is a daughter and son-in-law who were his care-givers for 5 years, Shelva Jean and David Ramey, Chillicothe, granddaughters, Vickie (James) Robertson, Bonnie (Terry) Russell and Tammie (Robert) Howard, great-grandchildren, Isaac (Crystal) Robertson, Emily Robertson, Amy (James) Turner and Andy Russell, great-great grandchildren, Layla and Caden Robertson, and a brother, Jay (Martha) Jobe, Washington C.H., OH. His parents, sisters, Melissa Bookwalter Bennett and Elsie Miller and brother, Charles Jobe preceded him in death. Mr. Jobe was a veteran of WW II, in the US Army, Company A, 542nd Engineer Boat and Shore Regiment serving in the Pacific Theatre. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Distinguished Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star. He was dedicated to his country and enjoyed the freedom he fought for. He retired from the Chillicothe Veterans Affairs Medical Center in 1974 and later retired from the Pickaway-Ross Joint Vocational School with 10 years of service. He valued his family and enjoyed family gatherings and good food. His grandchildren were blessed to have him as their biggest fan and coach at all of their sporting events. He leaves a legacy of being firm and working hard to achieve life goals. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, Sept. 8, 2008 in the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Rose and Rev. Greg Pennington officiating. Burial will follow in Brown's Chapel Cemetery with military rites by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of God Building Fund, 780 E.
