Gertrude E. Hay

Gertrude E. Hay, 79, of Ray, went home to be with the Lord on Friday evening, July 10, 2009 in the OSU Hospitals, Columbus following a brief illness. She was born Jan. 9, 1930 in Vinton County, the daughter of Phillip and Mary (Walsh) Haynes. On Oct. 30, 1948 she married Hubert J. Hay who survives and together they shared 60 years together. Also surviving is a daughter, Barbara A. and her husband, Garry Fairchild, Richmond Dale, a son, Kenneth L and his wife, LouEllen Hay, Ray, grandchildren, Angela Ruggles, Beth Beekman, Kevin Fairchild, Melissa Crowe, Stephanie Eicholz and Kenneth Hay, Jr., 15 great grandchildren, a sister, Gladys and husband, Don Davis, Chillicothe and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Her parents, 6 sisters and 4 brothers preceded her in death. Mrs. Hay was a homemaker and a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She had many interests such as gardening, traveling, mushroom hunting and fishing. Her greatest joy was her family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, July 17, 2009 in the Richmond Dale Church of God with Rev. John Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Little Mound Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Friday.
