Rev. Gail J. Shewalter

Rev. Gail J. Shewalter, 66, of Chillicothe, passed from this life Thursday, May 31, 2007 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born Dec. 19, 1940 in Chillicothe, the son of Jacob O. and Viola (Seymour) Shewalter. On Nov. 14, 1962 he married Caroline E. "Ikey" Sommers and they shared 44 years together. Surviving is his wife, of Chillicothe, daughters, Shonna Bible, SC, Sherrie Borror, New Lexington, OH, Margie (John) Hashman, Corning, OH and Samantha Shewalter, Chillicothe, sons, Gail J. "Bub" (Keisha) Shewalter, II, SC and Jeremy (Cassie) Shewalter, Chillicothe, 11 grandchildren, 5 sisters and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. His parents preceded him in death. Rev. Shewalter was an ordained minister and served churches in Ohio, West Virginia, South Carolina and Kentucky for 44 years, retiring from his ministry in 2003. He attended the Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ in Christian Union where funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Monday, June 4, 2007 with Rev. Mark Clendaniel officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home from 4 to 7pm on Sunday.
