Fern L. Strausbaugh

Fern L. Strausbaugh, 88, of Chillicothe, peacefully passed from this life on Monday, January 21, 2013 in Heartland of Chillicothe following an extended illness. She was born June 17, 1924 in Ft. Thomas, Kentucky to George and Louisa (Kunzelman) Chaloupka. On April 7, 1945 she married Richard L. “Dick” Strausbaugh and they shared 59 years together until his death on May 25, 2004.
Surviving are daughters, Ellen (Bill) Jenkins, Chillicothe, Diana (Keith) Ramsey, Pataskala and Lisa Strausbaugh and former husband, Mike Stanhope, Upper Arlington; sons, Rick (Kathy) Strausbaugh, Londonderry and Jim (Vicki) Strausbaugh, Richmond Dale; grandchildren, Courtney (Paul) Fetter, Angel (Brian) Jackson, Jennifer (Jason) Carle, Bo (Courtney) Ramsey, Ricky Strausbaugh, Jodi Francis, Mandy (John) Sass and Matt (April) Stanhope; a step-grandchild, Kim Estep; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Her parents, a daughter, Sandra Angela, step-grandson, Mike Estep and brothers, George and Norman Chaloupka preceded her in death.
She and her husband were the owners of Dick’s Dairy Corner in Londonderry for many years. She was an avid fan of the Southeastern Panthers, The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Indians and was a member of the Mike Albert Fan Club. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports and will be remembered as a loving wife and mother. Fern was a wonderful cook and baker and her Sunday dinners were loved by all her family. Her children told her she was the “best Mommy in the whole world”.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 25, 2013 in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Dean Thompson officaiting. Burial will follow in Londonderry Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday.
