Esther Margaret (Smolder) Davis

Esther Margaret Davis, 95, of Laurelville passed from this life on Friday, August 21, 2015 in Logan Elm Health Care Center, Circleville following an extended illness.  She was born May 4, 1920 in Kanawha County, West Virginia, the daughter of John E. and Sophia A. (Haid) Smolder.  On November 3, 1952 she married Charles J. Davis who preceded her in death October 6, 1996.

Surviving are daughters, Doris (Philip) Vogel, Laurelville and Janet (Sanford, D.C.) Golenberg, Athens; sons, Charles J. Davis, Kingston and Michael (Victoria) Davis, Hong Kong; grandchildren, Maia Davis, Hana Davis, Scott (Carol) Vogel, Robert (Robin) Vogel, James (Candy) Vogel, Vicki Diehl, Karen McCord, Keith Evans and Kae Diehl; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Trever, Sara, Tyler and Braia Vogel.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter-in-law, Patty Davis, grandson, David Evans and sisters, Alice Richardson and Ruth Burke.

Mrs. Davis was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Thursday, August 27, 2015 with Fr. Sean Dooley, Celebrant.  Burial will follow in St. Margaret’s Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday where a Rosary Service will be observed at 7:00 pm.
