Edgar A. Givens

Edgar A. Givens, 87, of Chillicothe, passed from this life early Saturday morning, Jan. 19, 2008 in Pleasant Hill Manor, Piketon, OH following an extended illness. He was born Apr. 16, 1920 in Columbus, OH, the son of Edgar L. and Mima (Leeth) Givens. In 1940 he married Alice W. Walls who preceded him in death in 1998. Surviving is a host of family and friends. Mr. Givens was a retired employee of Wear-Ever, the Chillicothe Veterans Affairs Medical Center and had owned and operated the Givens Grocery in Buchanan. He was a WW II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army and attended the Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ in Christian Union. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008 in the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home with Rev. Don Sparks officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Latham Cemetery, Pike County with graveside rites by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Tuesday.
