Douglas H. McAbee

Douglas H. McAbee, 86, of Chillicothe, passed from this life on Saturday October 24, 2026 at his residence. He was born on October 14, 1940 in Circleville the son of John and Doris (Bullock) McAbee. On January 31, 1984 he married Marjorie Ann Hart who preceded him in death on April 12, 2022.

Surviving are daughters, Candace Compher, Chillicothe; and Sandra (Tim) Arledge, Kingston; sons, Randy McAbee, and Andrew McAbee, both of Chillicothe; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, a special nephew, Mike (Cindy) Anderson, and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Jeffrey McAbee, granddaughter, Tonya Compher, and a sister Patricia Anderson.

Doug worked as a boiler engineer for Mead for 45 years before retiring on February 1, 2003. He was a member of the Eagles and enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards, and traveling—especially to Las Vegas and Myrtle Beach.

Doug was a hardworking man who always provided for his family. He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, and friend.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday October 29, 2026 in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Mitch Salyers, officiating. Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery.
