Doris L. Collier

Doris L. Collier, 77, of Chillicothe, passed from this life on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008 in Westmoreland Place following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008 in the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Elkins officiating. Burial will follow in Little Mound Cemetery, Richmond Dale. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday (today) Mrs. Collier was born Sept. 5, 1931 in West Virginia, the daughter of Lem and Becky (Finley) Elkins. On July 3, 1948 she married Miniard Elzie Collier who preceded her in death Aug. 23, 1985. Surviving is a daughter, Sandy (Jamie) Hartley, Chillicothe, sons, Junior (Sandy) Collier, Londonderry and Randel Collier, Chillicothe, 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, sisters, Ailene Ross and Linda (Harold) Tipton, Laurelville and Peg (Charles) Newman, Londonderry and a brother, Larry (Mary) Elkins, Laurelville. Her parents, a son, Tommy, a sister, Betty and brothers Bill and Junior preceded her in death. Mrs. Collier was a nursing assistant for many years. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. The family would like to express appreciation to the staff of Westmoreland Place and to Hospice for all of the care and consideration shown to our mother.
