Della A. Penisten

Della Ann (Elliott) Penisten, 78, of Chillicothe, passed from this life on Monday afternoon, Jan. 10, 2011 in Westmoreland Place following an extended illness. She was born on Aug. 30, 1932 in Chillicothe to the late Elmer and Nancy Margaret (Cox) Elliott. On Jan. 5, 1985 she married Robert O. Penisten who survives. Also surviving are daughters, Margaret Clifton and Debbie (Roland) Lamontagne, all of Chillicothe, step-children, Tammy (Dave) Woods, Piketon, Doug (Robin) Penisten, Chillicothe and Dan Penisten, TX, grandchildren, Josh Clifton, Michael Clifton and Ryan McCord, all of Chillicothe, Aaron "Woody" McCord, WA and Brian Hoffman and Jamie (Adam) Coates, Chillicothe, step-grandchildren, Tyler Hutton, SC, a special great-granddaughter, Hailei Avery Clifton, a brother, James (Patty) Elliott, WI, in-laws, Mabel Penisten, Ralph and Norma Penisten, Lilly Elliott, Roger and Nolakay Vest, Gary and Karen Hoffman and Hilda Hoffman, all of Chillicothe and Nancy Elliott, Frankfort and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Michael Hoffman, brothers, Robert, Richard and Donald Elliott, son-in-law, Curtis Clifton, brother-in-law, Oscar Penisten, and sisters-in-law, Vergie Riley and Betty Burkeheimer. Della was an employee of Kroger's, working as a clerk and later, a department manager, retiring in 1985. She was a member of Brookside Church and volunteered at the church food pantry until her illness. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be sadly missed by all. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, Jan. 14, 2011 in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME with Revs. David Dean and Jack Norman officiating. Burial will follow in Springbank Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Brookside Church Senior Center.
