David M. Oliver

David M. Oliver, 82, of Hilliard, OH, formerly of Chillicothe and Naples and Orlando, FL, passed from this life early Tuesday morning, May 8, 2007 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born Nov. 18, 1924 in Chillicothe, the son of Hugh C. and Lulu F. (Ellis) Oliver. On Sept. 6, 1949 he married June E. Braley, who survives. Also surviving are daughters: Susan K. (James) Hency, Columbus, Sarah J. (Jerre) Kirk, Orlando, FL, Ann E. (Michael Acheson) Oliver, Cincinnati and Amy L. (David) Walters, Atlanta, GA; grandchildren: Jason and Matthew Hency, Katherine and Elizabeth Kirk and Ian Walters; a step-grandson: Kyle Acheson; sister: Mary F. Durham, Barrington, IL; sister-in-law: Margaret Oliver, Altoona, WI; and a host of nieces and nephews. His parents, sisters, Lanora Oliver and Virginia Cavett, brothers, Hugh E. Oliver and John E. Oliver and sister-in-law, Nelle E. Colopy preceded him in death. Mr. Oliver was a 1942 graduate of Chillicothe High School and was a veteran of WW II, serving in the U.S. Army Medical Corps as a surgical technician in the South Pacific Theatre. He was a graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science and was licensed funeral director and embalmer. As the owner of Fawcett Oliver and Glass Funeral Home, he practiced in Chillicothe until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Columbus, a former member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Chillicothe, Scioto Lodge #6, F&AM, Chillicothe York Rite Bodies, Chillicothe Exchange Club and the American Legion and VFW. A memorial service will be held at 7:30 pm Saturday, May 12, 2007 in Trinity United Methodist Church, 1581 Cambridge Blvd., Columbus with Revs. Coleen Ogle and Amy Aspey officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
