David R. Mccalla

David R. McCalla, 82, of Circleville, formerly of Chillicothe, passed from this life early Sunday morning, May 24, 2009 in Mt. Carmel Medical Center, Columbus. He was born July 11, 1926 in Chillicothe, the son of Ralph and Anna Ethel (Stratton) McCalla. Surviving is his former wife and dear friend, Rose Wolfe and her family, Circleville, a daughter, Michelle A. McIntosh, Lilburn, GA, sons, Michael D. McCalla, Miami, FL and Jeffrey A. Behm, Scarsdale, NY, grandchildren, Rebecca and her husband, Philip Dillard, Jennifer McIntosh and Allan and Andrew Behm, a sister, Ann Noren, Jefferson City, MO and a brother and sister-in law, Paul "Sandy" and Charlotte McCalla, Columbus and several nieces and nephews. His parents, a son-in-law, Harold R. "Buddy" McIntosh, Jr., a brother, George and a sister, Margaret preceded him in death. Mr. McCalla was an Area Manager for Bell Telephone in Miami, FL, retiring in 1978. He was a veteran of WW II and the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the USS Salem Association and the USS Purdy Association. David was also a member of Scioto Lodge #6, F&AM, Scottish Rite, Valley of Columbus and the Aladdin Shrine Temple, Columbus. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, May 29, 2009 in the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home. Following cremation, concluding services will be held at the discretion of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday and one hour prior to the services on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
