Dale M. Oyer

Dale Merrell Oyer, 83, of Chillicothe , passed from this life early Sunday morning, Mar. 25, 2012 at his home with his family. He was born July 4, 1928 in Ross County , the son of Joseph and Cora (Rinehart) Oyer. On Nov. 17, 1947 he married Eunice L. Thornton who preceded him in death Nov. 18, 2000 .

Surviving are daughters, Deborah and husband, Larry Parker and Diana Oyer and companion, Chuck Rinehart, all of Chillicothe; sons, Larry Oyer and companion, Becky, Waverly, Dale Joe Oyer and Barry Lee and wife, Teresa Oyer, all of Chillicothe and Alan J. and wife, Brenda Oyer, Pickerington; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. His parents; sisters, Virginia , Peggy and Garnet and brother, Joe, Jr. preceded him in death.

Mr. Oyer was an operating engineer, retiring in 1989 and was a 56 year member of Local 18. He was a WW II veteran, serving in the US Navy and was a member of Logan Elm Lodge 642, F&AM and the Scottish Rite, Valley of Columbus . He will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather.

A special thank you to his son, Dale Joe Oyer for making his last days comfortable at home.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, Mar. 27, 2012 in Floral Hills Memory Gardens with military honors by the Circleville AMVETS Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday (today) where a Masonic service by Logan Elm Lodge 642 will be held at 7:45 pm .
