Charles A. Mattox, 78, of Chillicothe, passed from this life on Monday morning, June 2, 2014 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born August 12, 1935 in Point Pleasant, WV, the son of Charles O. and Bertha Mae (Wright) Mattox. On November 13, 1956 he married Peggy A. Adams who survives.
Also surviving are daughters, Cheryl (David) Ayers, Chillicothe, Tracy (David) Kuhn, Londonderry and Jaymie (David) Buchanan, South Salem; sons, Charles C. (Pat) Mattox and Mike Brown, both of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Kimberly, David Jr., Amy, Jessica, Gunther, Dietrich, Chesna and Rileigh; great-grandchildren, Kylie, Conner, Bryson and Carson; a brother, Ronald (Barbara) Mattox, Chillicothe and special cousins, Bobby Gibson and Johnny Pearson. His parents, a son, Terry L. Mattox, a sister, Virginia Browning and a brother Kenneth Mattox preceded him in death.
Mr. Mattox was a 24 year employee of the City of Chillicothe Water Department, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Chillicothe Moose Lodge and enjoyed fishing, hunting, horseshoes and euchre. An avid dog lover, he always had a canine companion.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 6, 2014 in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Johnny Pearson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 noon until the hour of service on Friday.
