Charles M. Hood, 83, of Chillicothe, passed from this life on Sunday, August 10, 2014 in Adena Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born March 10, 1931 in Lima, Ohio, the son of Oren and Veneta (Featheringill) Hood. His wife of 51 years, Shirle J. Hood preceded him in death on March 31, 2014.
Surviving are sons, Ryan P. Hood, Chillicothe and Keith C. (Judy) Hood, Lancaster; a step-son, Michael Haller, Kingston; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Jane, Dayton and Sharon, California; and a brother, Herb, Cincinnati. His parents, a son, Steve Hood, a step-son, Mark Haller and a step-daughter, Barbara Haller preceded him in death.
Mr. Hood was Superintendent of Finishing at Buckeye Steel Castings, retiring in 2001. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was a Past President of the Zane Trace Athletic Boosters and, along with his wife, served as SVC Track and Field officials.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the discretion of the family. Calling hours will not be observed. The FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME is serving the family.
