Charles Haskins

June 4, 1926 — July 2, 2011

Charles "Snooks" Haskins, Jr. 85, of Chillicothe departed this world unexpectedly on Saturday evening, July 2, 2011 in the Adena Regional Medical Center. He was born June 4, 1926 in Ross County, the son of Charles and Marjorie (Reisinger) Haskins, Sr. He was married July 7, 1951 to Mary (Moening) Haskins who preceded him in death August 17, 1970. Into this union were born three children who survive, Larry (Dena) Haskins, Urbana, Monty Haskins and Delilah Haskins, both of Chillicothe; a step-daughter, Karen (Raymond) Cox, San Antonio, TX and her two children and a granddaughter, Carrie Haskins, Columbus. On July 28, 1976 he married Maxine Kennison, who survives. Also surviving is a step-son, Tim Pritchard, Chillicothe; step-granddaughters, Kim (Jason) Cruse, Ormond Beach, FL and Angie Pritchard, Chillicothe; seven step-great grandchildren; special brothers-in-law, Denver Kennison and Robert Seymour and a special sister-in-law, Ida Mae Harper, all of Chillicothe. His parents, brothers Virgil and Leroy Haskins, sister, Madeline Frey and a granddaughter, Mary Ann preceded him in death. Mr. Haskins was a retired employee of Mead Paper and was a retired businessman. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in WW II and was a member of American Legion Post 62, VFW Post 108 and AMVETS Post 4. Charles will be sadly missed by his wife and friends who knew him down through the years. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, July 7, 2011 in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Mark Clendaniel officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery with military rite by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday.
