It seems as if the brightest candles burn out the fastest...Carolyn Starkey, 53, of Chillicothe, died at her residence Saturday evening following a fight with cancer. The world is much emptier without her. Born in Ross County Nov. 10th, 1953, she was a graduate of Huntington High School. She was predeceased by her father, Raymond McComis, a brother, Raymond McComis, and a beloved sister, Mary Dalton. She leaves behind her mother, Mary McComis, sisters Shirley McComis and Nancy Austin. Three children survive her, Jamie Starkey, Matthew Davis and Benjamin Davis. Also surviving is her loving husband James Starkey, who fought her battle alongside her and was with her in the final hours. They enjoyed 25 wonderful years together. A lover of all living things, she leaves behind MANY pets; Tigger and Furby her favorites. Her mark can also be seen in each thing she planted and grew on the home property; everything she touched seemed to grow. A "Constant Reader", like many, she had a love of many things written, including the works of Stephen King. She loved to bowl, and before the disease reared its ugly head she was a Saturday Night fixture at Shawnee Lanes. She missed her friends as she was unable to be there towards the end. Carolyn was not a person who set out to change the world. That wasn't her style. But those who knew her were changed by her...And for a lucky few of us, she was the world, and that world needed no changing. I miss you mom... Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, July 10, 2007 in Grandview Cemetery for anyone wishing to pay their respects. Calling hours will not be observed. The Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home is serving the family.
