Caroline Elizabeth "Ikie" Sommers Shewalter On Thursday evening, Dec. 16, 2010, God held out his hand and welcomed his daughter, Caroline into her permanent home. There, she was reunited with her husband, Gail and many loved ones and friends. She was born Aug. 15, 1943 in Chillicothe, the daughter of the late Richard T. and Bertha E. (Lowe) Sommers. On Nov. 14, 1962 she married Rev. Gail J. Shewalter who preceded her in death in 2007. She temporarily leaves behind her children, Shonna, Sherrie, Margie, Gail "Bub", Jeremy and Samantha, 11 grandchildren, a great grandchild and the spouses of her children. Also surviving is a sister, 2 brothers, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and her her church family and many friends, including her special friend, Jim Cottrill. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm Monday, Dec. 20, 2010 in the Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ in Christian Union with Rev. Mark Clendaniel officiating. Private burial in Floral Hills Memory Gardens will be at the discretion of the family. Friends may call at the Jefferson Avenue CCCU from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday. The FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME is serving the family.
