Carlia Basye, 97, of Chillicothe, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning, Dec. 19, 2007 in Heartland of Chillicothe following an extended illness. She was born July 27, 1910 in McCorkle, WV, the daughter of James T. and Cordelia (Hobbs) Tackett. On May 9, 1931 she married Samuel Basye who preceded her in death in 1973. Surviving are daughters, Eleanor (Robert) Bell, Campobello, SC, Barbara (Eldon) Smith and Virginia Carr, all of Chillicothe, sons, Paul Basye, Chillicothe, Rodger (Carol) Basye, Frankfort, Richard (Connie) Basye, Olanta, SC and James Michael (Joanne) Basye, Chillicothe, daughters-in-law, Nancy Basye, Chillicothe and Linda Basye, Waverly, 21 grandchildren and a host of great and great-great grandchildren. Her parents, a daughter, Ruth, sons, Rev. Samuel Basye, Jr. and Carl Basye and 2 sisters preceded her in death. Mrs. Basye had attended Hilltop Mission Church. She was a homemaker and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007 in the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Clendaniel officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday.
