Carl G. Baxter

Carl G. Baxter, Sr., 63, of Chillicothe, passed from this life early Wednesday morning, Jan. 23, 2008 in Adena Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. He was born Feb. 6, 1944 in Ross County, the son of Gilbert C. and Nellie (Hallett) Baxter. On Feb. 7, 1967 he married Karen Seymour who survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Lisa Bray and a son and daughter-in-law, Carl "Bud" Jr., and Tina Baxter, all of Chillicothe, grandchildren, Rhyan and Nathan Bray and Jesse and Jason Baxter, brothers, John Baxter, Dan (Diane) Baxter and Bill (Rita) Baxter, all of Jackson, a sister-in-law, Rosemary (Charles) Abernathy and brothers-in-law, Ronald (Bev) Seymour and Mark Seymour, all of Chillicothe and a host of nieces and nephews. His parents preceded him in death. Mr. Baxter was a retired employee of the Veterans Affairs Medical Center and with his wife, owned and operated K and C Logging. As a veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in Korea and Vietnam, achieving the rank of Sergeant. He was a member of the Ross County Conservation League and was an avid motorcyclist. He was a loving husband and father and was devoted to his grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, Jan. 28, 2008 in the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Clendaniel officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Londonderry Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday.
