Brigitta L. Detty

Brigitta L. Detty, 84, of Chillicothe, passed from this life Sunday evening, Oct. 17, 2010 in Beckett House of New Concord, New Concord, OH. She was born July 29, 1926 in Berlin, Germany, the daughter of Max and Luise (Dege) Zollner. During WW II, she met the love of her life, Raymond E. Detty and on Sept. 18, 1948 they were married in Germany. He preceded her in death May 28, 1997. Surviving is her daughter and son-in-law, Bridget Luise and Rick Cockrell, Chillicothe, a son and daughter-in-law, Lester Eldred and Heather Detty, Cambridge, OH, grandchildren, Tony (Leah) Detty, Tim (Heather) Detty, Jamie (Daniel) Detty, Janea Cockrell, Jenna Cockrell and a very special grandson, Carson Eldred Detty, several step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren, a sister, Christa Laewen, Berlin, Germany, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ed and Jerry Detty, Chillicothe and several nieces and nephews. Her parents, a son, Peter R. Detty and a sister, Ursula Glaser preceded her in death. Following her marriage, they settled in the Chillicothe area and she was an employee of Mead Paper. After raising her family, she was employed by the Main Street McDonalds and was a cook for the Roweton Boys Ranch. She was a long time sales representative for Avon Products and was well known as the "Buckeye Lady" at the Farmers Market where she sold her homemade buckeyes and baked goods. Following cremation, a graveside committal service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, Oct. 22, 2010 in Londonderry Cemetery with Pastor Mike Brady officiating. Calling hours will not be observed. The FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME is serving the family. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
