Billy J. Townsend, 81, of Chillicothe, passed from this life Friday evening, June 8, 2007 in Maple View Manor, Bainbridge. He was born Oct. 27, 1925 in Chillicothe, the son of William and Lucy (Bell) Townsend. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy in 1991. Surviving is a daughter, Jennifer Stephens and a son James (Jenny) Townsend, all of Chillicothe, grandchildren, Timothy (Carla) Stephens and Nicole Stephens, step-grandchildren, Ted Andreas and Marina Krallis, a special step-granddaughter, Shannon (Rob) Smith-Crane, great grandchildren, Brandon and Cristin Atherton, Ted and T.J. Stephens and Conner Crane, a sister, Margaret Hawk, Chillicothe, a brother, Jack Townsend, OR, a sister-in-law, Joyce Townsend, Chillicothe, a special nephew, Buddy (Janey) Wilhelm, Xenia, OH and several nieces and nephews. His parents, a granddaughter, Lora Stephens-Atherton, sisters, Jean, Ruth and Melissa and brothers, Julius and Ralph preceded him in death. Mr. Townsend was an employee of Mead Paper, retiring in 1988 with 40 years of service. He was a U. S. Navy veteran, serving in WW II in the Pacific and the Philippines. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, June 12, 2007 in Floral Hills Memory Gardens with military honors by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm on Tuesday.
