Betty Jane Recobs

Betty Jane Recobs, 77, of Chillicothe, passed from this life Thursday evening, June 14, 2007 in Heartland of Chillicothe following a brief illness. She was born Nov. 27, 1929 in Ross County, the daughter of Gus Franklin and Rosa Mae Riley. On Nov. 25, 1950 she married William E. Recobs who preceded her in death June 17, 2000. Surviving are sisters, Dorothy Fout Murphy and Louretta (Fuzz) Houser, all of Chillicothe, a host of nieces and nephews including her great nieces, Stephanie, Riley and Reeanna, a special friend, Bonnie Heaton, Chillicothe and her faithful cat, Nicky. Her parents, a sister, Katie M. Massie, a brother, Charles F. Riley, a nephew, Terry Houser and brother-in-law, Fred Recobs preceded her in death. Mrs. Recobs was a retired employee of U.S. Shoe with 38 years of service. She was a member of the First Church of God and the WCG, a life member of the VFW Post 108, a charter member of AMVETS 4, American Legion Post 62, and MOC Auxiliary 36 and was a VAVS volunteer for 48 years with 21 thousand hours of service. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday in the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Pennington officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 8 pm on Monday with a VFW Ladies Auxiliary Service at 7:30 pm.
