Betty L. Derringer, 87, of Chillicothe, passed from this life early Monday morning, Aug. 31, 2009 in the Chillicothe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness. She was born June 25, 1922 in Fayette County, OH, the daughter of Warner and Laura Belle (Fout) Roush. On Sept. 17, 1942 she married William L. Derringer who preceded her in death Feb. 24, 1984. Surviving is a son and daughter-in-law, William and Pamela Derringer, Chillicothe, grandchildren, Theresa A. and husband, Wayne Newell, Murrells Inlet, SC and Eric and wife, Amy Derringer, Chillicothe, 6 great grandchildren, sisters, Geraldine Woodring, Londonderry, OH, Dorothy Davis, Phoenix, AZ and Patricia (Neil) Merritt, Chillicothe, brothers, Warner "Bud" (Peggy) Roush and Donald (Susie) Roush, all of Chillicothe and a host of nieces and nephews. Her parents, a grandchild, sisters, Bea Kneece, Maxine Shewalter, Juanita Gearhart, Darlene Davis and a brother, Dean Roush preceded her in death. Mrs. Derringer was a WW II veteran, serving in the Woman's Army Corps. She and husband owned and operated Bill's Print Shop for several years and she had also served as an aide for the Pioneer School. A member of the Chillicothe Seventh-Day Adventist Church, she was also a long-time member of the Concerned Citizens for the Handicapped. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009 in the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort, OH. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pioneer School Booster Club, 11268 C. R. 550, Chillicothe, OH 45601
