Berneda Alice (Poling) Gray

Berneda Alice Gray, 85, of Chillicothe, passed from this life early Sunday morning, January 27, 2013 in Westmoreland Place following an extended illness. She was born August 28, 1927 in Hocking County, the daughter of Maynard J. and Martha (Stevens) Poling. On June 7, 1961 she married Harold E. Gray who preceded her in death July 16, 1997.
Surviving are her daughter, Beverly Sue (Roger) Downs and Rebecca Jean Walters and Jason, all of Chillicothe; her son, Richard James (Geraldine) Haynes, Columbus;
her step-sons, Wayne (Nila) Gray, Chillicothe and Bill Gray, Circleville; grandchildren, Teresa (Richie) Butler, Greg (Angie) Eldridge, Katy (Dale) Ramsey, Tamika (Ross) McCuistion, Eric (Jenn) Sherman and Jimmy (Teri) Haynes; great-grandchildren, Baylee Butler, Mikah Butler, Jared Butler, Jilian Sherman, Grayson Sherman, Megan Eldridge, Kateri Eldridge, William Vickroy, Brandt Belk and Cooper Davis; her sister, Millie (Homer) Notestone, Chillicothe and several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her parents, her brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Betty Poling, her step-daughter, Patricia Gray and her son-in-law, Dean Walters preceded her in death.
Mrs. Gray was a homemaker. She was an avid bowler in leagues for many years and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, January 29, 2013 in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Tom Jividen officiating. Burial will follow in Hallsville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until the hour of service on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
