Bernard Eugene Ward

Bernard E. "Gene" Ward, 75, of Chillicothe, passed from this life early Tuesday morning, Apr. 22, 2008 in Adena Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. He was born Sept. 27, 1932 in Pike County, the son of Rev. Ben M. and Emma (DeNight) Ward. In 1955 he married Patsy May who preceded him in death in 1998. On Aug. 21, 1999 he married Glenna L. Detty who survives. Also surviving are daughters, Nancy (Gary) Leasure, Gina Park (Kevin Baker)a son, Robert (Martha) Shoemaker, all of Chillicothe, step-sons, Tony (Leah) Detty, Chillicothe and Tim (Heather) Detty, Londonderry, grandchildren, Kelsie, McKalley, Blake, Nick, Zach, Tyler, Joanna, Ben, Ashley, Robbie, Donnie, Jason and Mike, several great-grandchildren, sisters, Helen Malone (Doug Hill) and Sally (Bob) Dray, all of Chillicothe, brothers, Robert "Bill" Ward and John (Sharon) Ward, all of Pearce, AZ and Gary (Marcella) Ward, Chillicothe, several nieces and nephews, including Robert Pulver, Johna Pulver, Brian Ward and Jodi Tippie. His parents, 2 infant children and a grandchild preceded him in death. Gene was a employee of Chilpaco with 48 years of service, retiring in 1993. He will be missed for his loving and caring personality and his great sense of humor. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, Apr. 26, 2008 in the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home with Rev. Aaron Satterfield officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday.
